Cloone Ladies AGM

On Saturday night last we held our AGM for 2007. Outgoing Chairperson Tara Mc Cabe read her report for the year in which she gave a run-down on events during the year both on and off the field. The highlight of the football year was undoubtedly winning the first ever Leitrim Ladies Intermediate Championship final on Saturday August 20th by beating Kiltubrid on a socreline of 4-10 to 3-5. After that game we went on t represent Leitrim in Connaught. We played Annaghdown of Galway on the 16th of September but unfortunately lost by one point on the day. We also contested two more finals playing old rivals Aughawillan in both the Senior Championship final and the Senior League Final. Unfortunately we were the losing team on both occasions. Despite losing two finals it was still a very successful year for the club and we would like to thank trainer Alan Canning for all the hard work and dedication he put in with us during the year. Without his commitment we would not be Intermediate Champions at present. 2006 was also a very successful year for Leitrim Ladies. They beat Sligo in the Connaught final by one point. They also had great success in the League just narrowly losing out to Clare in the All-Ireland final by one point in Athlone on May 7th. The highlight of the year for them had to be lining out in Croke Park in the All-Ireland Junior final against old haunts Sligo. Sligo’s greater experience of playing in Croke Park showed on the day ensuring them a 4point winning margin. Clone Ladies were well represented on the Leitrim team during the year with Sinead & Lorraine Brennan, Teresa Mylott, Aoife Kelly and Carla Creegan all playing. During Tara’s speech she also congratulated player Una Creegan on winning a British Colleges Championship with Liverpool Hope University. She sympathised with those who had deaths in the family during the year and also thanked the numerous and generous sponsors who helped us out during the year. And also to the men’s club for the use of the pitch and new lights, the lotto and for their general help and support throughout the year. Club Secretary Aisling Mitchell also gave her report on the year in which she told of all the goings-on from the underage. The minor team were the most successful and with there amalgamation with St.Josephs won the minor competition. Aisling thanked Patricia and all the girls for looking after the underage teams during the year. Outgoing Treasurer Carla Creegan also gave her review of our finances for the year. The last item on the agenda was the election officers. And the following is the new committee for 2007. President: Pat McNamara, Chairperson: TBA, Vice Chairperson: Lorraine Brennan, Secretary: Aisling Mitchell, Asst. Sec: Eileen Donohoe, Treasurer: Una McKeon, Vice Treasurer: Grainne Tiernan, PRO: Louise Heslin, Registrar: Annette Donnelly. We wish them all the best for 2007.
