Michael Creegan RIP

For the second time in nine months our club was devastated with the tragic and saddening news of the death of one of our senior players. It was with shock and disbelief on Tuesday evening last as we prepared for training that we learned of the passing of our club mate and friend Michael Creegan. Michael's passing shocked and saddened the entire Cloone community and further a field. Michael was a member of our senior side and had made his senior championship debut just two weeks ago. A talented and courageous footballer that had a keen eye for goal, Michael swung that left foot of his with great confidence. He had been a member of one of our most successful underage teams in recent years and had won several medals from U-12 right the way up through underage ranks. Michael was also one the real characters of the club and his unique way made him a very popular and well-liked member of the team. You'd always know when he was on his way to training from sound of the car coming in the distance and when he'd arrive in the dressing room it was always with a smile as he'd surely have something humorous to say to some of the other lads. Michael's potential as a footballer was only starting to be realised and he would no doubt have gone on to be a key player on our senior side. To Michael's father Tommy, mother Pat, sisters Alma, Rona, Carla and Katie and his brothers Mark and Clifford we extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathies. Michael was a good natured and obliging character who will long be remembered in Cloone for his good-humoured ways and there's no doubt his skill and determination on the field will be sorely missed in the years to come. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dhilis.
