August Bank Holiday Weekend Celebrations


On the August Bank Holiday Weekend the club will celebrate the 50th anniversary of our double win in the Leitrim Junior and Minor Championships together with the official opening of our recently refurbished and extended club rooms. The highlight of the weekend will be the visit of Uachataráin Cumman Luch-Chleas Gael Liam O'Neill who will perform the official opening on Sunday evening at 5:45pm. This will be preceeded by Cloone V Aughavas in a Senior Challenge game at 5pm.

On Saturday August 4th we begin with the Leitrim IFC clash of Cloone and Ballinaglera in Drumshambo at 5:30pm. Later that evening there will be mass for deceased members of Cloone GAA in St. Mary’s Cloone @ 8pm. This will be followed by the 50th Anniversary Reception for Members of 1962 Junior & Minor winning teams in Cloone Community
Centre @ 9pm with presentations by the Leitrim legend Packie McGarty. Tickets available in local businesses for this event or from Committee Members. Cost €8 or two for €15. The night will then finish off with music & Song in Creegan’s Bar with John McCartin and Friends.

On Sunday August 5th Cemetery Sunday Mass in Cloone will be at 11:30am. Later in the day then a Family Sports Day will be held in Cloone GAA Park commencing at 2:30 pm with a Youth teams mini-blitz followed by various youths & novelty races, Penalty Shoot out, Slow bicycle race, Bouncing castle,
Pony rides And much more. The Official opening of new club facilities will then take place by GAA President Liam O’Neill @ 5:00pm. The night will then finish off with music in McKeon’s Bar with Padraic Sweeney @ 9:30pm.

For those looking to complete the weekend then on Monday August 6th Cloone Agricultural Show will be held in the Show Grounds on Ballinamore Rd. We hope all supporters from near and far will be available to join us on this special weekend.
