Intermediate team through to Quarter Final

Our intermediate team returned to winning ways with a fine victory over Glenfarne Kiltyclogher on Saturday evening last in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, on a score line of 3-13 to 2-06.  This was a much improved performance on the previous Saturday and was  more a true picture of the way the team can play. Team Ciaran Casey, Declan Tiernan, Declan Brennan  Frank Reilly, Seamus Maguire, Gavin Reynolds, Pauric Harte, Brian Mulvey, Mark Beirne, Niall Quinn, Donal Brennan  Eoghan keegan Derek O Donnell, Damien O Donnell  Adrian Nicholls. Subs used Dara Tiernan, Ronan Mulvey and Michael Bohan.

We now play Melvin Gaels in the quarter finals on Saturday evening next in Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada at 5 30 pm. This is tough assignment as Melvin Gael have long been installed as favourites to take the 2015 Intermediate championship but if we can build on last Saturdays performance we could have a another good evening. We urge club members to come out and support the team on Saturday. Best of luck to the team and management,

Cloone and Melvin Gaels have a unique record in the history of the present Intermediate championship as both team contested the first intermediate championship in 1971 with Melvin Gaels winning the final game on a score line of 0-07 to 0-05. This was an unusual championship as only two teams participated, initially four team had entered to participate but two with drew leaving just Cloone and Melvin Gaels, The championship was played on a double round basis with aggregate score deciding the winners. The first game was played in Drumshanbo, and the second in Pairc Sean, but unfortunately for Cloone, Melvin Gaels won both matches. However we made amends winning the competition in 1972.
